93+ The fifty-plus year-old vines in Chapelle-Chambertin have really turned out a superb wine in 2008. The bouquet is deep and profound, as it soars from the glass in a blaze of black cherries, dark berries, espresso, a very complex base of soil, woodsmoke and a topnote of fresh cocoa. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very structured, with a sappy core of pure fruit, fine-grained tannins, tangy acids and outstanding focus and grip on the very, very long and classy finish. A great bottle in the making. (Drink between 2018-2060)
