(NM90-92 points) The Le Petit Mouton has a huge majority of Cabernet Sauvignon at 93% - the highest percentage ever. The nose is quite floral and Margaux-like in style, simple but perfumed. The palate is crisp and structured on the entry with plenty of graphite-infused black fruit originating from the Cabernet, with a touch of dried blood towards the finish. This is a knockout wine from Philippe Dhalluin - real character and panache here. Tasted April 2014.

(WE90-92 points) Barrel Sample. An unusually high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon in this second wine of Mouton Rothschild offers black currant fruits over the layers of oak and coffee flavors. The juicy, fresh character of this wine persists all the way to the finish.

(WS88-91 points) Dark currant, plum and anise notes mingle with singed alder and cedar accents, showing lightly dusty edges but enough of a plump feel for balance. Picks up a light savory character through the finish, where the tannins are relatively gentle. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.—Tasted non-blind. Score range: 88-91 –JM
