There is a ripe plum and mulberry fruit, with hints of mineral, earth and smoke, within a texture that is fresh but balanced and concentrated. A delicious wine, produced from the 1.29ha that lie in the Clos des Monts Luisants between the old Aligoté and the Clos de la Roche at the foot of the slope. There is a 15-day cuvaison with pumping over and light punching down, but no maceration either before or after the ferment. As with all cuvées here, everything is completely destemmed and no new wood is used.

(91-94 points) Black colour with a purple rim. Dense tight and again this back drop of very high acidity which possibly also reinforces the tannins. The fruit has a few black raspberry notes alongside red berries and is very insistent. This will certainly work very well when it grows up (in another 10 years or so)

(91-93 points) Aromas of cherries, wild berries, baking spices and smoked meats preface the 2020 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Cuvée des Alouettes, a medium to full-bodied, concentrated and vibrant wine that's still distinctly primary after 13 months' élevage. It's a promising wine that will reward patience, and it's a worthy follow-up to the terrific 2019.

(91-93 points) The 2020 Morey-Saint-Denis Cuvée des Alouettes 1er Cru has a perfumed bouquet with impressive purity, black cherries mixed with cassis and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, lightly spiced with gentle grip. Fine salinity here, this has the structure that you expect from a Morey. Give it 3-5 years in bottle.
