Concentrated and expressive fruit notes of brambles and dark cherries followed by black ink, peppery greens, anise, and dark chocolate. Full-bodied, firm tannins with crisp acidity. The 2021 Beauregard is a tasty, expressive Pomerol to drink now and over the medium term. A healthy dollop of Cabernet Franc in the blend adds aromatic presence. Dried herbs, incense, tobacco, menthol, licorice and sage are some of the notes that open with coaxing. I would give this a few years in bottle to come together. Flowers, red with black cherries, cloves, and licorice create the nose. Medium-bodied, soft, forward, fresh, and already charming, with its black cherry, plum and spicy, chocolate characteristics on full display. The wine blends 75% Merlot with 25% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2024-2037.

Perfumed and black fruits on the nose. This has a nice suppleness on the palate, gently textured tannins that are softly chewy with a liquorice and slate element to them making them savoury and mineral and also a little robust but supporting the black fruits. This is layered and ample with a beautiful precision to the fruit and well-worked tannins that give the frame. I also love the bitter black chocolate edges that sustain the long finish.

Tasting in bottle, this has well sculpted and enticing aromatics, remains a little austere on the palate with an emphasis on raspberry and redcurrant fruits, pomegranate and sage edging, showcasing precision and finesse over Pomerol exuberance, with plenty of Cabernet Franc personality. 29hl/h yield. The 2021 Château Beauregard is based on 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc that spent 18 months in wood (45% new). It has a healthy ruby/plum hue as well as ripe black cherry and mulberry fruit that gives way to more spice, damp earth, and subtle chocolate-like aromas and flavors. It's nicely balanced and has a supple, layered mouthfeel and ripe tannins, all making for a delicious, relatively forward, outstanding Pomerol to drink over the coming 10-12 years.

(90+ points) Opening in the glass with aromas of dark berries, pencil shavings and new oak, the 2021 Beauregard is medium to full-bodied, broad and layered, with a moderately concentrated core of fruit framed by plenty of powdery tannin that asserts itself on the youthfully firm finish. - William Kelley
