A crunchy and juicy red with blackberry, currant and chocolate, as well as cedar. Medium body. Refined tannins. Attractive depth of fruit to this. Drink or hold.

Decanter, April 2022

Gorgeous pink rose floral notes on the nose, so aromatic and pretty with red cherries and strawberries. Tannins are firm on the palate, gripping the tongue but the density is so appealing, bright with high acidity giving...

The best estates have really worked the aromatics during ageing, recognising that the 2021s are less concentrated at their heart than many recent vintages. This is a great example, expressive and enticing, with spiced...

The 2021 La Chapelle De La Mission Haut-Brion is a gorgeous second wine that shines for its purity and finesse while still bringing plenty of fruit. Redcurrants, black raspberries, and flowers, as well as some tobacco and...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, May 2022

(JL 90-92 points) The fruits are bright, fresh, crisp and savory, with a leafy, tobacco wrapper, forest leaf, and spearmint accent on the nose, as well as in the chalky, spicy, tobacco-infused, red berry oriented finish...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, February 2024

The 2021 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion offers up a complex, fresh bouquet with aromas of lead pencil, spices, dark berries and menthol. Medium to full-bodied with a fleshy texture, it’s perfectly balanced with a...

Vinous, February 2024

The 2021 La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion is laced with crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, spice and pipe tobacco. La Chappelle is quite floral and delicate in 2021. Its understated personality is quite charming...

Created by the noble Lestonnac family in the early years of the 16th century, the vineyard of Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion owes its name and its reputation to a missionary order commonly known as the Lazarites, who held the property from 1682 until the French Revolution.

The property is situated just opposite that of Chateau Haut-Brion, in the Pessac-Leognan appellation of the Northern Graves region. The vineyard covers an area of 29 hectares of which 26.60 hectares are planted with 42.7% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10.3% Cabernet Franc with an annual production of 6,000 to 7,000 cases. Over 3 hectares are devoted to white grape varieties (Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc).

In 1983, the Dillon family, already owners of Chateau Haut-Brion, added Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion to Domaine Clarence Dillon’s holdings. The new owners immediately set to work on an ambitious renovation program for the property, giving La Mission a new lease on life.

In the space of twenty-five years, the Dillon family, having fallen under the spell of this enchanting estate, successfully completed their impressive makeover of Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion so that for many years to come , it might continue to offer wine connoisseurs the world over a little glimpse of paradise in each bottle.
