This rich and velvety, mouth-filling Moulin-a-Vent has a gracefulness and lightness of touch that takes your breath away. Stacks of black fruit aromas, but not a jot loud. Extremely long, structured finish that somehow manages to be totally engaging, almost charming. From the Aux Caves site, which is south-facing and has a sandy granitic soil. This is 100% whole cluster. Matured in used oak barrels from Burgundy for just under a year. Drink or hold.

The 2022 Moulin-à-Vent Reine de Nuit is wonderfully aromatic on the nose with notes of crunchy black fruits, lilac petals, licorice and candied peel. The wine is medium to full-bodied and rounded with a salivating core of ripe fruit, framed by a layer of slate-like salinity and wispy tannins, with impressive length and a mouthwatering, poignant finish. Refined, yet oh-so generous, this is a standout for the lineup and comes highly recommended. - KW

The 2022 Moulin-à-Vent Reine de Nuit works much better on the nose compared to the Coeur de Vigneronne, better delineation and more freshness. The palate is well balanced with ripe tannins, fresh with firm grip. It's powerful and arguably not a subtle Moulin-à- Vent, showing a fine "bite" on the finish with the elegance that's lacking in the aforementioned cuvée. This is much more like it. - Neal Martin
